About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery
Partner with product management, design and analytics during ideation and decision-making
Articulate technical constraints and evaluate risks and trade-offs
Create and monitor metrics for team artifacts
Escalate issues and support operational availability, keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts
Participate in growth and development activities, including interviews
Build backend systems that validate consumer identity across Affirm products and satisfy regulatory protocols such as KYC
Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Auth, Fraud and engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems
Proficiency in Python or Kotlin
Familiarity with distributed systems
Familiarity with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
Ability to design solutions interacting with multiple software components
Ability to write clear, well-tested and extensible code
Experience navigating large code bases and debugging code
Experience providing code review feedback
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
