About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide substantive legal services under the direct supervision of a lawyer
- Draft, analyze, and prepare legal documents
- Coordinate legal projects and communicate legal information
- Prepare draft communications for supervising lawyers or paralegals
- Collect, evaluate, and summarize relevant facts and legal concepts
- Attend client meetings, coordination meetings, and legal proceedings
- Provide legal project management for legal matters
- Supervise Project Assistants, Paralegals, and Senior Paralegals on assigned tasks
- Prepare and file foreign and domestic trademark applications and related filings
- Draft communications with clients and foreign associates
- Conduct preliminary trademark availability searches and internal trademark searches
- Review office actions and summarize issues for attorneys
- Review outside vendor search reports and prepare charts and draft findings
- Draft filing instructions for trademark applications
- Report deadlines to docketing and perform docket clearance
- Communicate with clients regarding actions, deadlines, and prosecution matters
- Prepare agendas for monthly client calls
- Make preliminary evaluations of specimens showing use
- Assist with TTAB proceedings and trademark litigation
- Maintain accurate time records and meet time-entry and timesheet deadlines
- Bill at least 1,550 creditable hours annually, including at least 1,430 client-billable hours
- Attend relevant legal education and continuously improve legal skills
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required for non-California locations
- California paralegal qualifications under California Business & Professions Code § 6450
- 7+ years relevant paralegal experience required for Senior Paralegal
- 13+ years relevant paralegal experience required for Paralegal Specialist
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of legal processes and practice-group specific procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, team, and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function well in a high-paced, and at times, stressful environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and practice-group specific software
- Maintain a notary license in the local jurisdiction
- Copyright experience or willingness to learn
- Adherence to The National Federation of Paralegal Association’s Model Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility
