About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform oversight, safety, and qualification duties for helicopter and/or fixed-wing pilots undergoing evaluation
  • Conduct classroom, aircraft, and flight-simulator training and flight checks
  • Evaluate operational compliance across safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, procedures, and policies
  • Conduct initial and recurrent ground and flight training
  • Conduct transition, differences, and ROC ground and flight training
  • Correct and report out-of-compliance issues immediately and coordinate unresolved issues with the ACP and Regional Aviation or Maintenance Director
  • Assist with developing and implementing flight and ground training schedules
  • Ensure standardized training and checking procedures are followed
  • Assist the CP and ACP with pilot record keeping in accordance with applicable FARs and policies
  • Submit required reports on time
  • Operate advanced aviation training devices and full-motion simulators as required
  • Assist the CP with aircraft checklist and Air Methods’ Pilot Training Program development
  • Assist with basic indoctrination, instrument, and NVG training development and delivery
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred
  • Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience
  • ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
  • Commercial/Instrument rating required
  • Must meet total flight hour requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to implement initial and recurrent training programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • CFI / CFII (Rotor wing), or willingness to obtain within one year
  • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements
  • Regular scheduled attendance required
