About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Billing and Collections staff
  • Assist leadership in maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA compliance
  • Submit and follow up on authorization requests and appeals with insurance companies via fax, phone, or online
  • Request hospital records in a timely manner and follow up until received
  • Submit or mail appeal letters, claims, and correspondence to insurance companies with appropriate documentation
  • Document completed accounts for tracking purposes
  • Review and distribute incoming faxes, mail, and emails to appropriate staff
  • Link correspondence to accounts in the electronic records program for tracking
  • Contact insurance companies to confirm claim receipt when needed because of payer issues or time-sensitive matters
  • Review and complete rebills when needed
  • Assist with training new hires, continuous training, and cross-functional efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to be a team player with a professional attitude
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Regular scheduled attendance
  • Must follow Air Methods’ employment practices and policies
  • No certificates, licenses, or registrations required
