About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform pre-induction maintenance flights, post-maintenance flights, ground runs, and ferry flights
  • Ensure aircraft are airworthy and weather conditions are appropriate for maintenance operational and repositioning ferry flights
  • Brief and/or supervise associated personnel in aircraft operations as applicable
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Air Methods policies, and procedures
  • Ensure aircraft are returned to revenue service fully operational and capable of performing the air medical mission
  • Report to the assigned facility unless otherwise directed
  • Comply with PIC duties and responsibilities under the Air Methods GOM
  • Operate assigned aircraft safely and legally
  • Perform aircraft preservation and post-maintenance ground runs
  • Complete pre-flight inspections and aircraft walkarounds before and after each flight
  • Perform post-maintenance operational flights for return to service according to OEM and regulatory requirements
  • Ferry aircraft as directed
  • Verify aircraft systems and installed equipment are airworthy and operational before release for revenue service
  • Hold final authority for aircraft operations and the safety of crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment
  • Complete required documentation
  • Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
  • Work primarily Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, with a 5-days-on/2-days-off schedule
  • Travel more than 50% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must live within 1 hour of the facility location
  • 1200 hours total flight time
  • 500 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours turbine time
  • 100 hours cross-country flight time, including at least 25 hours at night
  • 50 hours actual or simulated instrument time in flight and in category
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating or ATP: Rotorcraft, Helicopter
  • Current Class I or II medical certificate
  • Capable of maintaining qualification in multiple aircraft
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2–5 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred)
  • Previous experience in dedicated maintenance support, or as production or post-maintenance test pilot preferred
  • Previous Part 135 experience preferred
