About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for all activities associated with production within the United Rotorcraft Division, including machining of parts, assembly, wire harness fabrication, component wiring, composites, upholstery, paint, and aircraft maintenance
  • Review manpower and capacity requirements
  • Define and coordinate department requirements based on workload and schedules
  • Coordinate and prioritize workflow based on schedule commitments
  • Emphasize schedule integrity and LEAN manufacturing processes
  • Initiate activities associated with personnel status changes
  • Ensure direct reports are adequately trained and capable of performing their duties
  • Ensure and maintain a safe work environment
  • Participate in weekly production and program status meetings
  • Provide estimates for proposals
  • Coordinate and communicate with Program Management, Quality, Engineering, and other departments
  • Directly supervise employees in paint, avionics, sheet metal, and aircraft maintenance
  • Interview, select, hire, train, plan, assign, direct, appraise, reward, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
  • Maintain regular scheduled attendance
  • Travel approximately 1% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) years of trade, vocational school required
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing and production processes
  • FAA Repair Station supervisory experience desired
  • Experience relative to aerospace and DoD programs highly desired
  • Experience on Bell Helicopters, Airbus and MD Helicopters preferred
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft painting helpful, but not required
  • Good communication, analytical, and supervisory skills
  • Ability to read and exchange information using the e-mail and internet system
  • Ability to read blueprints and operate equipment relative to area of responsibility
  • Intermediate Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge in MS Project preferred
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
  • Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements
