About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for all production activities within the United Rotorcraft Division, including machining parts, assembly, wire harness fabrication, component wiring, composites, upholstery, paint, and aircraft maintenance
- Review manpower and capacity requirements
- Define and coordinate department requirements based on workload and schedules
- Coordinate and prioritize workflow according to schedule commitments
- Emphasize schedule integrity and LEAN manufacturing processes
- Initiate activities associated with personnel status changes
- Ensure direct reports are adequately trained and capable of performing their duties
- Ensure and maintain a safe work environment
- Participate in weekly production and program status meetings
- Provide estimates for proposals
- Coordinate and communicate with Program Management, Quality, Engineering, and other departments
- Directly supervise employees in paint, avionics, sheet metal, and aircraft maintenance
- Interview, select, hire, train, plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
- Maintain regular scheduled attendance
- Travel approximately 1% of the time
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) years of trade or vocational school required
- Demonstrated experience with manufacturing and production processes
- FAA Repair Station supervisory experience desired
- Experience relative to aerospace and DoD programs highly desired
- Experience on Bell Helicopters, Airbus and MD Helicopters preferred
- Basic knowledge of aircraft painting helpful, but not required
- Good communication, analytical, and supervisory skills
- Ability to read and exchange information using email and internet systems
- Ability to read blueprints and operate equipment relative to area of responsibility
- Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of MS Project preferred
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
- Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements
