About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Respond to operations requirements on a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week basis
Inspect, repair, install, troubleshoot and modify induction and synchronous motors, transformers, high and low voltage switchgear, protective relays, switchgear starters, generators, distribution systems, associated equipment controls and protective equipment
Supervise contractor technicians and lead crews
Work across Global Operations-operated plants, joint ventures, subsidiaries and third-party facilities
Develop worn component refurbishment procedures
Follow through on repairs and spare parts replacements based on electrical engineering recommendations
Provide technical decision-making support for major equipment repairs
Develop work scopes for equipment repair and overhaul
Prepare and provide technical reports
Enter equipment and repair information into SAP for accurate documentation
Travel throughout the United States, primarily supporting the Industrial Gas West Region

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma required
College degree in electrical or technical school preferred; relevant experience will be given strong consideration in lieu of formal education
Minimum 5, preferably 10 years’ experience in industrial electric work
Experience in the petrochemical and manufacturing industry is a plus
Experience in medium and high voltage electrical equipment maintenance, start-up or commissioning environment
Practical knowledge of electrical distribution, motors and motor controls, conduit and wiring practices, lighting and grounding
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, particularly hazardous locations
Demonstrated supervisory skills and safe work skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to lift over 50 lbs., work at heights and in confined spaces
Must have or be willing to obtain a TWIC card
Ability to work independently and lead a crew of contractor technicians
Ability to travel 65% of the time and work extended hours on short notice
Must reside near a major airport
