About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support reliable operations of industrial electrical equipment in company-owned and operated facilities in North America
- Provide technical assistance to field personnel on high voltage distribution equipment and high voltage motors/generators
- Respond to and provide technical assistance for electrical equipment problems within company-owned facilities
- Direct and coordinate vendor shop repairs on high voltage motors and other equipment for quality assurance
- Issue repair reports after critical jobs for historical documentation
- Identify engineered solutions to recurring electrical issues
- Improve plant and equipment reliability through historical trending and improved maintenance procedures
- Lead and participate in root cause analysis (RCA)
- Execute predictive and preventive equipment maintenance strategies
- Ensure adherence to internal and national standards when specifying and maintaining equipment
- Review and approve engineering documents on plant upgrade projects
- Support training, coaching, and mentoring of electrical field technicians and operations staff on safe operation and preventive maintenance of electrical distribution systems
- Ensure 100% compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Program protective relays using settings developed in systems analysis software
- Report to the Manager of Electrical Engineering at Air Products’ Global Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in operations and maintenance of large industrial plants is required
- Proficiency in programming and bringing together event information from protective relays is required
- Experience with SEL and GE Multilin protective relays
- Proven understanding of SKM Power Tools for Windows engineering software is helpful
- Experience in software modeling packages such as ETAP will be considered
- Proficiency in crafting safe work permits and HV Lock-out/Tag-out orders is required
- Experience specifying, reviewing, and approving HV substation equipment, transformers, HV and LV motors and generators, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, station battery, and UPS systems is helpful
- Flexibility and ability to travel in North America up to 25%
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent working experience
- 6 to 8 years of experience as a qualified electrical worker in an industrial facility
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit)
