About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Leverage AI and tooling to lead implementation of a test automation strategy across unit, service, integration, and end-to-end testing
Build, maintain, and effectively utilize automated tests for features and releases
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust test coverage and continuously improve testing processes
Improve existing automation frameworks to support new functionalities and optimize quality and efficiency
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with the CI/CD team
Troubleshoot, isolate issues, verify bug fixes, and debug issues found during testing and after release
Ensure code quality, commitment to craft, and operational excellence
Collaborate with product management, development, and other Quality Engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
Develop and maintain quality engineering processes that scale for Airbnb’s external customers and internal teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of industry experience in software engineering and testing
Demonstrable knowledge of at least one web development language, such as TypeScript or JavaScript
Comfort working in a backend language, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, or Go
Strong knowledge of test automation methodologies, tools, and frameworks
Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks, such as Playwright or Cypress
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, such as Buildkite, Spinnaker, or Jenkins
Experience with version control systems, including Git
Experience using quality signals such as coverage, flaky test rate, suite execution time, and escaped defects
Excellent communication skills for facilitating cross-functional interactions
Expertise developing solutions to ambiguous problems and integrations across multiple teams
Curiosity about applying AI/LLMs to testing and developer productivity
Comfortable collaborating in English
Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
