About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build Android experiences that bring account features to life for millions of guests and hosts
  • Own well-scoped features from technical design through launch
  • Design and build Android features using modern, declarative UI and unidirectional state architecture
  • Partner with product and design to turn concepts into polished, accessible Android experiences
  • Collaborate with backend, iOS, and web engineers to keep feature behavior and data consistent across platforms
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code
  • Participate in code and design reviews
  • Learn from senior engineers and contribute to shared Android patterns and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance, and reliability issues affecting the Android app
  • Work with Payments and Wallet engineering, Identity & Privacy, Profile & Community, and Guest & Host product, design, and data science partners on the team's roadmap and technical foundations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of professional Android engineering experience, including shipping features in a large-scale, production consumer app
  • Proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android architecture, including declarative UI (e.g., Jetpack Compose), unidirectional state management (MVI/MVVM), and dependency injection
  • Experience working with backend and other platform (iOS and web) engineers to integrate APIs and keep cross-platform experiences consistent
  • Track record of delivering features from technical design through launch and iteration, with growing scope and independence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a habit of seeking and acting on feedback
  • Comfort operating with some ambiguity, including on a newly formed team establishing new surfaces for the first time
  • Solid understanding of mobile app performance, accessibility, and release/CI practices for a large-scale consumer app
  • Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
