About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and drive high-impact Minerva workstreams end to end
  • Make experimentation faster and easier by identifying gaps and shaping platform capabilities
  • Build and extend Minerva’s core services, including the query rewriting service
  • Scope ambiguous problems with users and teams, propose solutions, and deliver them
  • Track semantic-layer techniques and database engine capabilities to inform priorities
  • Partner with teams across Airbnb to make data easier to query and use
  • Own design, implementation, testing, and on-call for systems built
  • Help internal users define, understand, and consume trustworthy business metrics across product, finance, BI, and experimentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 9+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, primarily building and deploying production applications and services
  • Deep proficiency in at least one modern general-purpose language, such as Java, Kotlin, Scala, Go, Python, or TypeScript
  • Experience working on data platforms or data tooling
  • Understanding of users’ data needs
  • Ability to independently scope and drive ambiguous, cross-team projects from design through launch
  • Strong command of object-oriented programming, API design, and distributed systems patterns
  • Strong communication skills and experience working across complex team and system interfaces
  • Experience with experimentation platforms, metrics or semantic-layer platforms, query engines, DSLs, compilers, or data transformation APIs is a plus
