About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support new design and modifications of aircraft structures and/or systems
  • Create quality design solutions on time
  • Perform design efforts for metallic and non-metallic parts
  • Design system installations including electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems
  • Collaborate closely with static stress and fatigue colleagues
  • Use multiple applications to develop efficient design and system-installation solutions
  • Work on complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions
  • Create or modify technical documents, including Design Datasets and Product Structures, using Airbus applications and toolsets such as SAP, CATIA, and VPM
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical departments to solve complex technical problems
  • Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into final products
  • Utilize technical signatory and develop others in acquiring signatory
  • Mentor less experienced designers/design engineers
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex problems
  • Lead aspects of major projects
  • Set broad objectives, establish timelines, and define required tasks
  • Communicate with all levels of management and internal and external stakeholders
  • Determine and pursue courses of action to obtain desired results
  • Serve as spokesperson on advanced projects and advisor to management and customers on technical matters
  • Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods, and tools improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials
  • Minimum thirteen (13) years total experience in design with airframe structures and/or system installation projects
  • Authorized to Work in the US
  • In-depth knowledge of technical principles of design, theories, and concepts
  • Applied knowledge of design documentation, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and collectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Able to lead teams technically to achieve agreed milestones
  • Refined communication approach that resolves problems, facilitates consensus, and focuses on objectives
  • Ability to represent Engineering in presentations
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • CATIA V5 and/or 3DExperience experience
  • Proven skills in multiple CATIA workbenches
  • Effective verbal and written English communication
  • Interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines
  • Model writing skills
  • Preferred: Software coding in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Airbus Structures
  • Preferred: Experience in metallic/composite airframe structure and/or electrical harnesses, fuel lines, and hydraulic systems installation
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Preferred: Conversational French and/or German
  • Travel required: 5% domestic and international
