About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform complex fatigue and damage tolerance analysis for metallic aircraft parts
  • Work closely with design and static stress colleagues
  • Use classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength-to-weight-ratio structures
  • Document analyses supporting trade studies and detail drawing sign-off for airframe structures
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical departments to solve complex technical problems
  • Develop advanced technological ideas and guide them into final products
  • Utilize technical signatory and develop others in acquiring signatory
  • Mentor less experienced structural analysts and provide leadership and guidance on complex problems
  • Lead aspects of major projects
  • Set broad objectives, timelines, and required tasks
  • Communicate with all levels of management and internal and external stakeholders
  • Determine and pursue actions needed to obtain desired results
  • Serve as spokesperson on advanced projects and technical advisor to management and customers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical)
  • Minimum thirteen (13) years total experience in analysis with airframe structures
  • Experience including fatigue and/or damage tolerance
  • In-depth knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods
  • Ability to work independently and collectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and accessible
  • Positive and collaborative team attitude
  • Ability to lead teams technically to achieve agreed milestones
  • Refined communication approach that resolves problems, facilitates consensus, and focuses on objectives
  • Ability to represent Engineering in presentations at Airbus-related activities
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • Experience in airframe design (metallic and composites), stress analysis, SRM, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part 21, certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, and PATRAN is desired
  • Must communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Able to travel independently and at short notice
  • Able to carry and lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg
