About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the uninterrupted availability of all plant utilities
- Maintain optimum performance and compliant operation of the wastewater treatment system
- Monitor fire tube and water tube boilers, air compressors, cooling towers, water treatment systems, and chillers
- Monitor the site’s industrial wastewater biological treatment system in compliance with the City of Raleigh Industrial Users Permit
- Manage and maintain compliance with permits and safety requirements
- Collect water samples, analyze them, and record data on lab sheets and company forms
- Monitor and operate the site’s fire system
- Maintain security awareness during off hours and serve as the first point of contact for emergency situations
- Identify, correct, and report hazards
- Perform regular housekeeping to maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace
- Work safely and comply with applicable safety procedures, SOPs, BPRs, and ISO standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Strong reading and mathematical skills
- Experience in a Utilities or wastewater environment
- Ability to adapt easily to change and demonstrate the ability to be flexible and cooperative
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate material management equipment
- Ability to operate manual and automated controls systems to maintain stable operation
- Ability to stand and walk around for a minimum of 6 hours per day
- Bend over, climb, crouch, kneel, reach above head for an hour per day
- Push and pull less than an hour a day
- Minimal lifting or carrying of 50 pounds occasionally
- Repetitive use of hands/arms, legs and eye hand coordination
- Must follow safety procedures, SOPs, BPRs, and applicable ISO standards
- Must become properly trained and able to enter confined spaces including open topped tanks and enclosed vessels for inspections and repairs
