About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own system design and implementation while guiding engineering and ensuring alignment with the overall architecture
- Build proof of concepts to support design choices and recommend technologies
- Work with product managers and product architects to inform product direction
- Shape the engineering roadmap with product and engineering management and business stakeholders
- Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor others
- Collaborate with engineering teams in an Agile environment
- Lead the architecture and design of Akamai's Kubernetes-based platform underpinning cloud infrastructure products and services
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of relevant experience
- Major in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable platforms
- Experience building production services using Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies, such as ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, Cilium, and RKE2
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes concepts including Operator/Controller patterns, Cluster API, and multi-cluster
- Experience with containers and related technologies, including Docker and containerd
- Significant experience with Linux, Go, and Bash
- Familiarity with CSI, CNI, Crossplane, Load Balancing, and Service Mesh frameworks
