About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the architectural design and development of software supporting Akamai's global connectivity platform
- Drive software-defined automation to eliminate operational toil and improve network infrastructure reliability
- Establish telemetry systems and observability stacks for real-time monitoring of global network traffic and security services
- Champion software engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC standards across multidisciplinary architecture and engineering teams
- Steer capacity planning strategies and cost optimization across distributed routing, fabric, and edge security systems
- Architect scalable infrastructure
- Mentor engineering teams across the organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- 15 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in network and software engineering
- Expert proficiency in Python, Ansible, Kubernetes and Source of Truth platforms
- Proven expertise in large-scale IP routing and network fabric architectures
- Experience designing cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code deployment frameworks
- Ability to adapt quickly to rapidly evolving requirements
- Ability to lead with a focus on agility
