About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Help build cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the Akamai Cloud
Design and implement clean, robust, and performant REST APIs for customers and internal teams
Develop and maintain internal libraries and microservices used by various Akamai teams
Design, implement, review, document, and test high-quality Python code in collaboration with the team
Review and contribute to architectural and design documents authored by other teams
Mentor other developers and collaborate with leadership and non-developer stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Background with mainstream programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or Go
Solid skills in writing, testing, and understanding complex software
Experience designing and implementing REST APIs
Experience with technical design, product specification reviews, projects, and backlog planning
Ability to work productively with team members to identify and resolve issues collaboratively
Good communication skills and experience communicating with leadership and non-developer stakeholders
Experience mentoring other developers
Curiosity and willingness to learn
English is the main working language
Experience with Python, Docker, pytest, MySQL, SQLAlchemy, Flask, Prometheus, and Grafana is relevant; experience with all tools is not expected
Experience developing microservices is a nice bonus
