About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and scale ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across the Akamai Connected Cloud
Develop low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages
Design, implement, review, document, and test high-quality code
Collaborate with peers and global teams to build new features or resolve software bugs
Participate in technical design reviews
Mentor junior team members on infrastructure initiatives
Work on core compute platform infrastructure and APIs powering instance orchestration across the Akamai Connected Cloud
Collaborate with QEMU, Linux systems, and hardware teams to support native ARM and x86 compute

Requirements

What you’ll need

8 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
Experience with the full software development life cycle, including code reviews, release management and support
Proficiency developing software in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust
Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration
Experience with web application development, microservices, micro-orchestration, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns
Excellent debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers
