About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic interpretation
  • Perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing diagnostic data
  • Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with MRI procedures
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Interact with healthcare staff, clerical staff, patient care departments, patients’ families, and visitors
  • Perform correct MRI exams and produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Respond promptly to coverage requests due to absences or vacations and cover at least one shift every 30 days
  • Conduct patient safety screening for contraindications and manage access to MRI zones
  • Apply aseptic injection technique and potentially oversee remote MRI Technologist Assistants
  • Follow company imaging protocols, RadSite Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT practice standards
  • Complete annual and ongoing education, competencies, and in-services
  • Communicate with customers and radiologists to address concerns, solve problems, and resolve conflict
  • Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
  • Start and discontinue peripheral IVs and administer contrast through ports, CVLs, and PICC lines when indicated
  • Use Akumin EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation
  • Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT
  • State license, if applicable required
  • CPR Certification
  • BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • ACLS certification where applicable
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable required
  • Minimum 3 years technologist experience
  • Ability to work at several locations
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
  • Local travel may be required
  • Preferred: 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Experience
  • Preferred: Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT
  • Ability to perform MRI safety screening and restrict access to MRI zones
  • Competency with differing MR equipment and power injection equipment
  • Competency in contrast safety and administration, peripheral IVs, ports, CVLs, and PICC lines
  • Proficiency with Akumin EMR systems, PACS, and DICOM systems
  • Ability to lift and transfer non-ambulatory patients
  • Ability to work in a strong magnetic field and potentially around blood/body fluids and infectious disease
