About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic interpretation
  • Perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing diagnostic data
  • Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with magnetic resonance imaging procedures
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies
  • Screen patients for contraindications and verify orders
  • Manage MRI zones to ensure patient, colleague, and visitor safety
  • Exercise judgment and discretion during procedures and oversee MRI Technologist Assistants when required
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images according to company protocols, RadSite/IAC/ACR guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT standards
  • Demonstrate competency with different MR equipment and power injection equipment
  • Complete annual and ongoing education, site-specific competencies, and in-services
  • Operate multiple MR systems as required
  • Communicate effectively with patients, radiologists, peers, healthcare staff, and families
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality
  • Start and discontinue peripheral IVs using aseptic injection technique
  • Use Akumin EMR, PACS, DICOM, and mammography reporting systems
  • Send images promptly and address workflow issues affecting interpretation turnaround time
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow infection control practices
  • Train and orient new technologists and MR Technologist Assistants onsite or through a remote command center
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
  • ARRT(MR) and State License, if applicable
  • BLS from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or ACLS, where applicable
  • Ability to work at several locations, as needed
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Preferred: 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience
  • Ability to perform physical duties including sitting, standing, walking, repetitive movement, seeing, speaking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, carrying, and lifting/transferring non-ambulatory patients
  • Ability to work around strong magnetic fields, blood/body fluids, infectious disease, and outside weather conditions when applicable
