About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for medical interpretation and diagnostic purposes
  • Perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing diagnostic data
  • Independently perform or assist licensed practitioners with magnetic resonance imaging procedures
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in compliance with laws, regulations, and policy
  • Interact with healthcare staff, clerical staff, patient care departments, patients’ families, and visitors through oral communication and electronic medical record documentation
  • Perform correct MRI exams and produce high-quality diagnostic images while complying with company policies and procedures
  • Provide per-diem coverage for absences or vacations, with at least one shift covered every 30 days
  • Ensure patient safety through contraindication screening, access restriction, equipment and exam scanning, and aseptic injection technique
  • Demonstrate competency with different MR equipment and power injection equipment
  • Complete ongoing education, site-specific competencies, and in-services
  • Communicate with customers and radiologists, address concerns, solve problems, and resolve conflict
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality
  • Administer contrast safely, including peripheral IVs, ports, CVLs, and PICC lines when indicated
  • Use Akumin EMR systems, PACS, and DICOM systems
  • Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification as allowable by contract in lieu of ARRT
  • State license, if applicable required
  • CPR Certification
  • BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • ACLS certification where applicable
  • Valid state driver’s license, as applicable required
  • Minimum 3 years technologist experience
  • Ability to work at several locations
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
  • Local travel may be required
  • 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Experience preferred
  • Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT preferred
