About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce cross-sectional PET/CT images for medical interpretation and diagnostic purposes
- Explain procedures to patients and help put them at ease
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction
- Interpret physician orders and instructions
- Select appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce high-quality PET/CT images and studies
- Work across freestanding outpatient centers, mobile coaches, and hospital-based/inpatient facilities
- Provide per-diem coverage, responding promptly to absences or vacations
- Cover at minimum one shift in a 30-day period
- Pre-screen patients for contraindications
- Perform aseptic injection techniques
- Follow radiation safety and regulations and document radioactive-material and patient procedures
- Communicate with customers and radiologists to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict
- Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Train new technologists and/or PC's
- Troubleshoot scanners, coaches, and peripheral equipment, including monitors, PACS, and coils
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine or Positron Emission Tomography by the NMTCB or Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT
- State license, as required
- CPR certification
- As applicable, valid state driver’s license
- Ability to work at several locations
- Strong customer service skills
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
- Preferred: 1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, perform repetitive movements, see, speak, hear, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, carry, and lift
- Ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or examination
