About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform diagnostic ultrasound images for medical interpretation using multi-frequency sound waves
- Identify normal and abnormal imaging results and communicate summaries to physicians or other health professionals
- Perform correct ultrasound exams and produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Independently perform or assist a licensed practitioner with diagnostic exams and invasive procedures where applicable
- Administer high-frequency sound waves to obtain physician-ordered diagnostic exams
- Demonstrate competency with differing ultrasound equipment and aseptic and sterile techniques
- Perform probe cleansing prior to patient use
- Maintain quality standards through process improvement and a team-oriented approach
- Use EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation
- Address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict through available communication channels
- Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Communicate effectively with patients and radiologists
- Train and orient new technologists and patient coordinators as needed
- Complete annual and ongoing education, site-specific competencies, and in-services
- Respond promptly to coverage requests due to absences or vacations
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Minimum certification through ARRT (S) or ARDMS required
- Valid state driver’s license, as applicable required
- CPR Certification
- BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- ACLS certification where applicable
- 1-2 year experience in Ultrasound
- Ability to work at several locations
- Strong customer service skills
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs
- Local travel may be required
- Flexibility with availability as a per-diem technologist
- Covering at minimum one shift in a 30 day period
