About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define long-term strategy for the Alaska Air Group fuel quality inspection program in line with IFQP and company standards
  • Develop and maintain the long-term strategy for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air IFQP inspection schedules
  • Perform fuel inspections of fuel storage facilities, into-plane refueling processes and procedures, and refueling vehicles in accordance with IFQP, ATA 103, JIG, and CSA B836 standards
  • Share inspection discrepancies and findings with IFQP members through the IATA Fuel Quality Pool System
  • Review completed IFQP reports for applicability to Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air operations
  • Integrate inspection results into the Safety Management System and maintain department records
  • Manage processes defined in the IFQP Multilateral Agreement and ATA 103 fuel quality standards
  • Act as IFQP Airline Master/Deputy Master and point of contact for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air
  • Support internal and external audits, including DOD, FAA, and IOSA audits
  • Represent Alaska Airlines in the Airline for America organization and attend industry fuel training as needed
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering, fueling vendors, and Supply Chain Management’s Fuel Operations department to share findings and improve the fuel quality inspection program
  • Remain current in Safety Management System training requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7 years of airline industry fuel auditing, fuel quality assurance, fuel operations, or a related area
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
  • Current training and certification as an IATA Fuel Quality Pool Inspector
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company
  • Frequent travel is required, including international travel
  • A valid passport at the time of employment
  • Must maintain a residence in a state where Alaska Airlines operates
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must reside within a reasonable distance of an airport served by Alaska Airlines to support business travel requirements
  • Valid FAA Certification (Airframe and Powerplant [A&P], Powerplant or Repairman) — preferred
  • Thorough understanding of the ATA 103 standard — preferred
  • Coordinating Agency for Supplier Evaluation (C.A.S.E.) Level III or Level IV evaluator — preferred
