About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the Real Estate Financial Operations team in delivering its objectives
- Apply accounting principles and analyze financial data
- Assist Senior Accountants with quarterly collection of property data from external managers
- Review, validate, and reconcile AIMCo investment records and property financial statements in Yardi Voyager
- Perform bank and various investment reconciliations and ad-hoc accounting functions
- Support Accountants/Senior Accountants and assist in processing investment management transactions in Yardi Voyager
- Load and validate accounting trial balances in Yardi Voyager
- Assist with projects under the direction of the Senior Manager, Foreign Real Estate Accounting
- Take over some daily accountant tasks and collaborate with Senior Accountants on property-level accounting
Requirements
What you’ll need- In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management, Information Systems, or another related field
- Post-graduation plans to enroll in a professional accounting designation program is advantageous
- Previous bookkeeping and/or accounting experience is a definite asset
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, including IFRS and Canadian GAAP (ASPE), is an asset
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
- Highly proficient with MS Applications and ability to quickly adapt to various software applications
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and business concepts
- Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Thrives under pressure and enjoys contributing to team goals

- Final candidates must pass an acceptable security screening, including a credit bureau and criminal record investigation
