About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate compressors, pumps, pulverizers, boilers, turbine generators, switchyard equipment, and auxiliary equipment
- Produce electricity, potable water, smelting steam, and high temperature water for consumption in the smelting plant
- Control the generation of electrical power
- Operate and maintain fuel systems, including ash and demineralizer systems
- Ensure the smelter continuously receives the necessary electrical power to produce aluminum
- Monitor and maintain power plant systems
- Perform other essential functions of the position
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years full-time light to heavy industrial or power industry work experience
- Ability to perform physically demanding work activities
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends
- Preferred experience with fuel systems, boilers, turbines, electrostatic precipitators, condensate systems, feed water systems, and high voltage switching
- Ability to monitor and maintain the listed power plant systems
- Ability to perform the other essential functions of the position
