About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and update engineering plans for capital improvement projects using computer-aided design (CAD) systems
  • Produce maps in GIS to support planning and analysis of the capital improvement program
  • Assist departments with various mapping requests
  • Support engineering staff with capital projects
  • Support operations staff with work plans
  • Assist engineers in clearly depicting improvements in CAD
  • Interact regularly with engineers, operators, and construction staff
  • Contribute to the development and renewal of critical water and wastewater public infrastructure

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job
  • An associate’s degree or graduation from a technical school in geography, cartography, GIS, engineering, planning, construction management, or related field, and four years of experience in mapping, surveying, civil engineering, planning or other related field
  • Experience in CAD, GIS, drafting, mapping, engineering plans, or related technical fields preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with water and wastewater capital project development highly desirable
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Criminal history background check, driving record check, and reference checks prior to employment
