About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work across the full model-training technology stack
Optimize training-load scheduling on the cluster
Improve the robustness and performance of the model-training pipeline
Enable large-scale code execution for reinforcement learning
Improve inference throughput in evaluation systems
Design and build training-pipeline tooling and infrastructure
Identify issues and take initiative to unblock the team
Collaborate through mob programming or pair programming
Improve code maintainability through tests and design and architecture changes
Influence what training infrastructure gets built and how

Requirements

What you’ll need

Ability to dive into a codebase, change behavior as necessary, and leave the code better tested and easier to understand
Understanding of low coupling and high cohesion
Ability to incrementally refactor
Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
Experience with trunk-based development
Experience with continuous integration
Experience with Domain Driven Design
Experience with Python is a plus
Experience with Rust is a plus
Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
Ability to learn and a suitable mindset
Willingness to attend the office at least two days per week
If based in Berlin, willingness to travel to Heidelberg every second month for a few days
