About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and lead challenging, business-focused data science projects in interdisciplinary teams
Identify and understand customer needs
Design and develop effective data-driven solutions and support their implementation and rollout
Extract relevant and critical data from customer datasets
Develop innovative solutions using statistics, machine learning, mathematical optimization, and visual analytics
Successfully communicate results and insights to customers
Support the comprehensive implementation of ideas in collaboration with the data engineering team
As a subject-matter expert, regularly participate in customer meetings and occasionally attend external events

Requirements

What you’ll need

Completed degree in business informatics, business mathematics, computer science, chemistry, physics, statistics, mathematics, or a comparable field with a strong quantitative focus
At least 3 years of full-time professional experience in data science and AI engineering
Demonstrated success in business analytics, particularly in designing, developing, and operating data use cases
Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Strong understanding of data modeling and analysis
Knowledge of software development
Expertise in commonly used analytics toolboxes
Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries
Experience with visualization solutions such as Tableau or Power BI
Knowledge of databases and big data technologies
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, DBX)
Experience with data platforms (Snowflake, MS Fabric, DBX)
Industry knowledge in retail and consumer goods is a plus
Enjoyment of project-based work and a strong customer focus
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken, is required
