About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, maintain, improve, and scale automated testing strategies
- Guide, review, mentor, and support the growth of QA developers
- Write, review, and improve automated tests in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Architect, optimize, and scale testing frameworks across the Shopify Hydrogen storefront and backend middleware
- Integrate automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
- Improve automation coverage, pipeline stability, test execution runtimes, flaky test reduction, production defect leakage, and QA reporting
- Perform API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tool profiling
- Help improve the quality, stability, and reliability of React-based storefront and internal middleware
- Prevent bugs and reduce defects reaching production
- Collaborate with the QA and development teams to deliver stable eCommerce releases
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of QA development experience, with examples of automated testing strategies built, maintained, improved, or scaled
- 2+ years of leadership, mentorship, or coaching experience
- Strong command of JavaScript and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools
- Experience architecting, optimizing, and scaling automated testing frameworks across frontend storefronts and backend middleware
- Experience with Shopify Hydrogen storefront and middleware
- Experience integrating automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of automation coverage, pipeline stability, test execution runtimes, flaky test reduction, production defect leakage, and QA reporting
- Experience with API contract testing, performance profiling, load testing, and browser developer tool profiling
- Willingness to work with or knowledge of Python, PHP, Figma, Storybook, or Jest
- eCommerce experience
