About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform day-to-day accounting functions for AlgaeCal
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Reconcile credit cards and monitor expenses
- Prepare CRA/IRS/VAT cross-border direct and indirect tax filings and working papers
- Perform multi-entity consolidation
- Review reconciliations and answer accounting questions
- Coach junior team members through month-end
- Improve financial reporting processes and strengthen controls
- Document standard operating procedures and refine accounting processes
- Collaborate with the finance team in a fun, supportive workplace
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of accounting experience in an eCommerce environment in an accounting/finance role
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Experience preparing CRA/IRS/VAT cross-border direct and indirect tax filings and working papers
- Experience with multi-entity consolidation
- Degree in accounting
- CPA designation already obtained
- Strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping
- Ability to prepare monthly financial statements
- Ability to reconcile credit cards and monitor expenses
- Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
- Good working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and an ERP system
- Ability to improve financial reporting processes, strengthen controls, document SOPs, and refine processes
- Proven ability to excel at day-to-day accounting functions and attention to detail
- Ability to quickly assume responsibility for day-to-day accounting needs
