About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, maintain, and improve automated testing strategies
Investigate unreliable tests and improve test coverage
Build scalable testing frameworks for the Shopify Hydrogen storefront and backend middleware
Integrate automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
Provide fast, useful feedback to developers and support smoother releases
Track and report quality metrics including test coverage, execution times, pipeline stability, recurring failures, and production defects
Test APIs, perform API contract and load testing, and investigate performance issues using browser developer tools
Help improve the quality, stability, and reliability of AlgaeCal’s React-based eCommerce storefront and internal middleware
Collaborate with the QA team and mentor other QA developers

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of QA development experience
Extensive eCommerce experience
Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills
Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or similar testing frameworks
Ability to build maintainable, scalable testing frameworks
Experience with Shopify Hydrogen storefront and backend middleware
Experience integrating automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines
Experience with quality reporting, including test coverage, execution times, pipeline stability, recurring failures, and production bugs
Experience testing APIs and investigating performance, including API contract testing, load testing, and browser developer tools
Experience with Python, PHP, Figma, Storybook, or Jest is advantageous
Humble, hungry to learn, and people smart
