About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take product ideas from 0 to 1 by scoping, designing, building, shipping, and owning them in production
Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems for multi-cloud networking
Use agentic workflows, LLM-powered development loops, and AI tooling to accelerate shipping and operations
Design, build, and maintain APIs and microservices using Java/Spring, Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes
Operate shipped systems through customer escalations, on-call, telemetry, and bug fixes
Pick up and maintain existing services in the assigned area
Help build Alkira’s programmable enterprise networking platform connecting clouds, sites, partners, data centers, and AI workloads

Requirements

What you’ll need

B.S./M.S. (or equivalent) in CS, EE, or a related field
4–7 years of software engineering experience
Experience taking products from zero to shipped and improving existing codebases
Daily use of AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with an AI-native development workflow
Strong computer science fundamentals
Hands-on Java/Spring and Go experience
Knowledge of distributed systems
REST API design experience
Database schema design experience
Multithreading experience
Linux/kernel fluency
Experience with container and Kubernetes deployment
Security-first thinking for distributed, multi-tenant systems
Product and customer empathy
Ability to work across geographically distributed teams
Ability to multitask and support multiple concurrent projects
Networking background in BGP, SD-WAN, overlays, or cloud networking is a strong plus
