About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Foster support and collaboration among landlords and providers to increase access to affordable housing and improve community tenure
  • Provide regular training on Fair Housing and Olmstead to providers
  • Monitor programs and providers for compliance with ADA guidelines and regulations
  • Coordinate Alliance and provider activities related to housing and ADA settlement agreements or consent decrees
  • Provide training and technical assistance on federal and local housing regulations, laws and standards
  • Advise and consult with supervisors and senior-level staff on housing matters
  • Advocate and provide technical assistance to landlords and property managers housing people with behavioral health conditions
  • Convene a housing provider roundtable and support implementation of housing-tenure service definitions
  • Coordinate and assist with housing placements for homeless individuals and families with special healthcare needs and people identified with Transition to Community Living
  • Maintain records related to outcomes and performance indicators
  • Implement landlord recruitment strategies to expand the housing portfolio
  • Travel throughout Mecklenburg County and surrounding counties to meet members, providers, and community stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of experience in Human Services
  • At least two (2) years of experience in housing
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Highly effective communication ability
  • Ability to make prompt independent decisions based upon relevant facts
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of housing principles, guidelines, laws and concepts
  • Knowledge of housing market trends
  • Knowledge of all guidelines and regulations in the Americans with Disability Act
  • Satisfactory background and MVR (Motor Vehicle Registration) check required before start date
