About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Practice in a full-scope collaborative environment
  • Provide comprehensive care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, immediate newborn care, gynecologic and family-planning needs
  • Independently provide labor support, water birth and VBAC/TOLAC services
  • Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based care
  • Provide clinic and call coverage
  • Cover United Women's Health Clinic and United Hospital, with additional coverage at Apple Valley and Woodbury Clinic
  • Collaborate with in-house OB and maternal fetal medicine groups
  • Attend approximately 40–50 births per month across three affiliated clinics
  • Deliver a natural birth experience and nontraditional care in the hospital
  • Support whole-person population health care initiatives
  • Mentor CNM and NP students
  • Participate in research and QI projects
  • Follow standards for Nurse Midwifery Practice established by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Minnesota statute

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Graduate from Accredited School of Nursing required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support required within 180 Days
  • AMCB American Midwifery Certification Board upon hire required
  • Master's degree or doctoral in nursing or related field preferred
  • Ability to provide full-scope midwifery care across inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Ability to provide labor support, water birth and VBAC/TOLAC services
  • Ability to follow standards for Nurse Midwifery Practice established by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Minnesota statute
  • Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
