About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet and welcome patients at in-person appointments or provide support by phone
  • Perform patient registration by collecting demographic and financial data and entering information into the electronic medical record
  • Navigate the patient electronic record system to review and respond to scheduling and records needs
  • Conduct patient check-in, collect insurance information, provide appointment-specific forms, and obtain required documentation
  • Assist patients with telephone encounters and use de-escalation techniques as needed
  • Direct patients to appointments or procedures
  • Collect co-pays and remaining balances and obtain patient signatures
  • Respond to questions about financial assistance programs
  • Perform end-of-day reconciliation
  • Participate in prescription refill order processes as appropriate and within scope
  • Complete Epic and In-Basket work, including review, response, follow-up, and completion
  • Review MyChart appointments and work reschedule reports
  • Process no-show letters
  • Retrieve, scan, sort, and distribute medical records, forms, faxes, mail, and documents
  • Coordinate Release of Information requests and scan STAT EKGs as needed
  • Maintain and organize patient care lobbies and provide department support
  • Clean and disinfect clinic areas and equipment throughout the day
  • Unpack and restock supplies and clinic resources and make copies as needed
  • Schedule appointments and support office communications, including calls, messages, and paging
  • Perform weekly downtime checks
  • Participate actively in staff meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • 2+ years of computer knowledge including working with an electronic medical record and Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook) required
  • Excel preferred
  • 2+ years of customer service, clerical, or business environment experience in healthcare
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Associate's or Vocational degree preferred
  • 1 year of medical terminology knowledge preferred
  • Sedentary physical demands: lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally and negligible weight frequently
