About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete comprehensive patient assessments.
Determine diagnosis and treatment of illness.
Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with the attending physician.
Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
Conduct patient education for chronic illness management or wellness care.
Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiac surgery care at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and United Hospital in St. Paul.
Perform rounding only.
Participate in an approximately one-weekend-per-month rotation.
Use Excellian electronic health record system.
Collaborate with attending physicians and the broader care team.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program required.
At least one year of experience post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training preferred.
Cardiology experience preferred.
Certification as a Physician Assistant - NCCPA - National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required or Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) - American Nurse Credentialing Center or (AANP) American Association for Nurse Practitioners required upon hire.
Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP candidates).
Active MN NP/PA license (or ability to obtain).
BLS certification required within 180 days of hire.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for credentialing and hospital privileges.
Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently.
40 hours per week; 10-hour shifts; day/evening/night availability.
Occasional weekend rotation, approximately one weekend per month.
