About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend and participate in Allina Health’s Nursing Assistant Academy
- Complete classroom instruction, hands-on learning, virtual learning, and clinical skill development
- Learn basic nursing skills, including taking vital signs, providing personal care, and mobility assistance
- Complete required coursework, exams, and competencies
- Transition into a permanent Nursing Assistant position at Abbott Northwestern Hospital upon successful completion
- Work in the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Float Pool
- Provide direct hands-on patient care
- Work across a variety of patient care units and populations
- Work straight day or night shifts
- Work a 0.9 FTE schedule of 72 hours per two-week pay period, including every other weekend
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years of age
- Education and/or experience needed to meet required principal competencies
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to complete all Academy coursework, exams, and competencies
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently
- Prepared to transition into a permanent 0.9 FTE Nursing Assistant position
- Availability for day or night shifts
- Availability for every-other-weekend scheduling
- Ability to work across varied patient care units and populations
