About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide appropriate, efficient, and effective occupational therapy care in hospital, outpatient clinic, home health, mental health, skilled nursing facility, or community-based settings
  • Generate therapy diagnoses by gathering patient data and assessing patients
  • Design, implement, and modify therapeutic interventions
  • Educate patients and families in establishing treatment goals
  • Set improvement levels and determine the time needed to reach them
  • Re-examine patients to evaluate predicted outcomes and modify treatment as necessary
  • Select tests, measures, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to patient/client age
  • Report and record service charges
  • Provide safe patient equipment and maintain personal and workplace safety
  • Select and delegate appropriate plan-of-care tasks
  • Supervise therapeutic programs and activities carried out by aides
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary referrals or referrals to other practitioners
  • Participate in departmental performance and process improvement activities
  • Support and promote new services and develop new and current programs
  • Provide ongoing input to enhance departmental services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • 0 to 2 years occupational therapist experience
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist - MN Department of Health required if service area is in Minnesota upon hire
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if service area is in Wisconsin upon hire
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, or current BLS certification from the American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire
  • MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment if providing services for Home Care and Hospice
  • Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
