About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides clinical care for patients
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment
- Conducts patient education for chronic illness or wellness care
- Refers patients for specialty care when determined
- Consults with physicians when patient needs fall outside Physician Assistant scope of practice or diagnosis/treatment plans are unclear
- Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations
- Works in inpatient and outpatient situations independently or as part of a treatment team
- Serves as an educator, case manager, and consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team
- Supports the Cambridge General Surgery Practice across clinic, inpatient, and OR settings
- Gains exposure to General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and minimally invasive/robotic surgery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Physician Assistant working in a General Surgery setting
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
