About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide first-assist and perioperative support for MIGS surgical procedures
  • Assist with robotic, laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and complex vaginal gynecologic procedures
  • Complete preoperative assessments and coordinate surgical readiness
  • Enter and manage preoperative and postoperative orders and patient care activities
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing teams, and operating room staff
  • Support urgent and emergent gynecologic surgical procedures as needed
  • Provide inpatient postoperative care, daily rounds, recovery assessments, treatment planning, and discharge coordination
  • Evaluate and manage patients with complex benign gynecologic conditions
  • Conduct preoperative consultations, surgical counseling, and postoperative follow-up visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, imaging, and laboratory studies
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care, referrals, and communication among patients, families, consultants, and care teams
  • Provide clinic support when operating room coverage is not required
  • Support continuity of care from consultation and surgical planning through hospitalization and postoperative recovery
  • Help develop and expand the growing MIGS program and future urgent gynecologic surgery coverage model

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree
  • Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
  • Must meet at least ONE requirement: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association; Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross; or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum of one-year surgical experience, preferably with OB/GYN surgeries and procedures
  • Ability to travel between multiple hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinic locations
  • Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
