About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical care for patients
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments
- Determine diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician
- Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment
- Conduct patient education for chronic illness management or wellness care
- Refer patients for specialty care when determined
- Consult with physicians when needs exceed Physician Assistant scope or diagnosis/treatment plans are unclear
- Work across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Serve as educator, case manager and consultant to staff and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Work 2–3 clinic days and 1–2 operating-room days per week
- Float among 3 MD teams
- Participate in call rotation, including 3–4 weekends per year
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- BLS Tier 1 - Multisource required within 180 Days
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Orthopedics preferred
- Ability to provide patient care in inpatient and outpatient situations
- Ability to perform independently or as part of a treatment team
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
