About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete comprehensive patient assessments and determine diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Use a multidisciplinary team approach to treat complex conditions
- Provide surgical assistance in the OR for vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgeries
- Consult with physicians when patient needs fall outside the Physician Assistant scope of practice or diagnosis/treatment plans are unclear
- Support a system-wide referral source spanning the Twin Cities and outlying areas
- Educate patients on treatment plans, chronic condition management and preventive wellness
- Work collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being
- Support urodynamics
- Collaborate with Colorectal, OB/GYN, PFPT, Urology and other specialties
- Provide care in clinic and OR settings, with occasional call
- Cover multiple sites including Abbott Northwestern Hospital, United Hospital, Bandana Square Clinic and Lakeville Specialty Clinic
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association, or Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross, or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
- Minimum 1 year PA experience preferred
- Surgical experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
