About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide care for neurological emergencies, critical care neurology, and neurological complications of systemic disease
- Use vascular neurology expertise to treat stroke patients
- Review, prioritize, and synthesize comprehensive patient health data
- Evaluate and coordinate information to make patient-care decisions and recommendations
- Provide education, consultation, treatment plans, and interventions to patients and families
- Collaborate with patients to improve health and well-being
- Practice with consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy, and legal responsibilities
- Chart electronically in accordance with licensure and scope
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary case management
- Provide care in ambulatory clinic, inpatient, or outpatient hospital settings as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Use quality-improvement tools to develop processes that improve patient care, outcomes, and workflows
- Participate in peer review and quality assurance as needed
- Deliver in-house acute stroke care and Telestroke coverage for hospitals across Minnesota and Wisconsin
- Work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and intensivists
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fellowship-trained Stroke Neurologist; Stroke Fellowship preferred, but Stroke Program experience acceptable
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine required
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency training program in Neurology or foreign equivalent training required
- Telemedicine experience preferred
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required upon hire
- PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
- Licensed Physician - WI required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
- Prescription Monitoring Program required upon hire
- National Provider Identifier required upon hire
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
