About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clinical care for patients
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments
- Determine diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician
- Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment
- Conduct patient education for chronic illness or wellness care
- Refer patients for specialty care when determined
- Consult with physicians when patient needs exceed scope of practice or diagnosis/treatment plan is unclear
- Perform mostly surgical work with no clinic responsibilities
- Work in the OR, round on patients, and support elective and acute care surgery
- Work across inpatient and outpatient situations independently or as part of a treatment team
- Serve as educator, case manager and consultant to staff and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree
- Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
- Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice or Licensed Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) or equivalent Nurse Practitioner certification required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire
- ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support from American College of Surgeons required upon hire
- Preferred: 3 years experience; consideration will be given to lesser experienced applicants and new grads if prior knowledge of trauma care is demonstrated
- Ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
