About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design the core patient and provider experiences for Allswell
  • Design experiences that help patients get started, stay connected to therapists, and feel better
  • Collaborate with clinicians to translate evidence-based clinical tools into intuitive, engaging, and relatable patient experiences
  • Own complex design problems end-to-end
  • Lead user research with patients, therapists, and families
  • Build prototypes to drive quick alignment
  • Design and ship polished features in partnership with product and engineering
  • Set the design direction while remaining hands-on in execution
  • Create and maintain Allswell’s design system
  • Design all user flows and experiences, as well as the process for creating them
  • Partner with product, engineering, clinical operations, and growth
  • Work directly with engineers through delivery
  • Report directly to the CTO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of product design experience shipping products and features used by thousands of people
  • Strong, diverse portfolio demonstrating clear design instincts from user research and prototyping through shipped product
  • Fluency with AI tools
  • Aggressive experimentation with AI and continuous reassessment of designers’ work
  • Research mindset and genuine energy for talking with real users
  • Clear, thoughtful, and direct communication style
  • Experience leading a design team or mentoring other designers (desired)
  • Experience designing for healthcare, clinical, or other operationally complex products (desired)
  • Experience building 0-to-1 products and operating without a playbook (desired)
  • Passion for improving LGBTQ+ access to affirming, insurance-covered mental health care (desired)
