About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Report to the Head of Corporate Communications & Campaigns
- Identify internal business moments and stories that build Allwyn’s reputation as a trusted operator of The National Lottery
- Identify primary channels to maximise communications impact
- Monitor external conversations about Allwyn UK and The National Lottery and advise on whether responses are needed
- Develop communications responses to issues and risks
- Build corporate communications campaigns covering the Employee Brand, retailer support, Social Value programmes, business milestones and performance
- Promote and protect the Allwyn and The National Lottery brands
- Identify and act on news opportunities based on strategic priorities and everyday activity
- Identify media and broader corporate risks and advise on mitigations
- Respond quickly to negative media enquiries
- Grow and maintain relationships with relevant media and journalists
- Share and comment on Allwyn news using a multiplatform, digital-first approach
- Source, create and edit written or broadcast news stories with communications colleagues and stakeholders
- Monitor journalist moves, industry trends and emerging news platforms
- Work with the communications agency partner as required
- Assist with team administration and planning, including subscriptions, suppliers, calendars, rotas, press cuttings and performance reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- PR, media or journalism experience
- Relationships with media outlets, particularly regional and trade press
- Experience securing media coverage across different platforms
- Understanding of modern media consumption and current PR trends
- Good writing and communication skills
- A 'can-do' attitude with a positive, proactive mindset
- Creative thinking and storytelling ability across channels including social media
- Ability to work under pressure, with experience identifying potential issues and dealing with negative media enquiries and issues
- Basic understanding of data and analytics to inform PR plans
- Hunger for finding and sharing great stories
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
