About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead or support economic impact assessments for state agencies and regulators
- Build transparent impact models covering direct, indirect, and induced effects, including employment, output, tax, and industry effects, with documented assumptions
- Synthesize industry, labor, and administrative data
- Write policy-ready findings and recommendations
- Present methods and results to agency sponsors and stakeholders
- Contribute economic-impact content and past-performance narrative to AlphaGov proposals when permissioned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on economic impact assessment, I-O / REMI / IMPLAN (or equivalent) modeling, or state regulatory economic analysis delivery
- Ability to produce reproducible methods, clear limitations, and policy-ready reports
- Comfortable as a 1099 / project-based collaborator with travel as needed
- Prior California state agency or regulated-industry economic analysis (nice to have)
- Cannabis / alcohol / regulated-product market analysis (nice to have)
- Advanced degree in economics, public policy, or related (nice to have)
