About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a technical subject-matter expert in indirect taxes, ensuring tax compliance, mitigating tax risks, and correctly interpreting legislation.
- Conduct complex tax analyses and support strategic decision-making.
- Interpret legislative changes and implement adjustments to processes, controls, and systems.
- Prepare tax analyses, studies, and opinions for business areas and financial leadership.
- Assess the tax implications of products, operations, customers, suppliers, and strategic projects.
- Identify tax risks and improvement opportunities, implementing preventive and corrective actions.
- Participate in the implementation of Brazil’s Tax Reform, with a focus on CBS and IBS.
- Provide technical leadership for ERP and tax solution implementation, upgrade, and configuration projects.
- Lead tax audits and internal and external inspections as the tax department’s primary point of contact.
- Oversee the calculation, review, and payment of indirect taxes.
- Prepare, review, and file EFD ICMS/IPI, EFD-Contribuições, EFD-Reinf, DCTFWeb, and PER/DCOMP.
- Monitor tax compliance status and manage tax clearance certificates (CNDs).
- Support the team’s technical development through guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Preferably 6–8 years or more of solid experience in indirect taxes.
- Track record of working in industrial and/or multinational environments.
- Strong command of ICMS, ICMS-ST, IPI, PIS, COFINS, ISS, and withholding taxes.
- In-depth knowledge of EFD ICMS/IPI, EFD-Contribuições, EFD-Reinf, DCTFWeb, and PER/DCOMP.
- Knowledge of Brazil’s Tax Reform and the impacts of the transition to CBS and IBS.
- Experience with audits, tax inspections, and ERP or tax system implementation and improvement projects.
- Advanced Excel skills for analyzing and processing tax data.
- Preferred qualifications: experience with SAP and Tax One, as well as experience in industrial environments, preferably in the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
